Perks for a new generation.

Our business, as a creative ad, design, digital agency, thrives on the potential of hiring uber-talented, fresh-minded, young millennials. Lots of research has described them as selfish, disconnected, narcissistic, unreliable, job-hoppers that are hard to manage.

Since they’re also the largest generation in history (and they make up most of our staff) we’ve developed a number of incentives that aim to appeal to this group (and all our existing employees). Being in a creative business helps. We’re a smaller shop that works on having a fun culture. Here‘s a list of some of the perks we already offer:

– Casual work atmosphere & dress code

– Pet friendly office

– Free coffee

– Free beer

– Ping pong table

– Office music sharing

– Social space & common area

– Wall mounted ipads

– Summer Friday Half Days

– Summer Extra-Day Long Weekends

– Fun office events & excursions (ski/snowboard day, axe throwing, curling, guac-off / chili competition, Oscar & sports pools)

This list has some nice incentives, but it’s all a bit played for the ad industry, isn’t it? In today’s competitive work marketplace we wanted an edge when trying to attract the best talent. So, it’s time for us to come up with some fresh ideas. We’re in the process of researching some “new” and never before tried benefits. Web searches, focus groups and corporate espionage have not proven very fruitful. Yet. But we’re not giving up. We’ve all seen perks likes sabbaticals, free meals & even free acupuncture, right? So we’re determined to find a win-win for employees and employers alike.

We’ll let you know if we find anything inspiring. Stay tuned.
